Michal Hvorecky, geboren 1976, lebt in Bratislava und gilt als einer der erfolgreichsten Autoren der Slowakei. 2009 erhielt er in Berlin den Internationalen Journalistenpreis. Bislang hat er drei Romane und drei Erzählbände veröffentlicht. In der FAZ und der ZEIT sowie zahlreichen weiteren Zeitschriften sind Essays und Geschichten von ihm erschienen. Über die Donau sagt Michal Hvorecky: „In der Donau schwimme ich nicht gerne. Das ist ein gefährlicher Fluss.“

Michal Hvorecký, born in 1976, lives in Bratislava and is regarded as one of the most successful authors of Slovakia. In 2009 he was awarded the International Journalists Award in Berlin. So far, he has published three novels and three collections of short stories. His essays and stories have also been published in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and in Die Zeit, as well as in numerous magazines. Michal Hvorecky says about the river Danube: “I don’t like swimming in the Danube. It’s a dangerous river.”
